Posted by Linda Fitzgerald My name is Linda and I also have scoliosis. Mine was diagnosed when I was 7 and although I only have a mild case, it has caused me some problems. As a result, my left leg is 1 1/2 centremetres shorter than my right leg. My left hip is also higher than my right hip. I walk with a slight limp and it is noticeable. I'm 26 now and I try not to let my scoliosis bother me anymore. I used to get depressed about it quite often and I was teased and tormented by the kids at school. I also wore glasses which didn't help and I was very shy as a child. When I bought shorts or long pants, my Mum used to lower the hem on the left leg, so both legs of the shorts/long pants looked the same length when I wore them. I used to go for regular checkups for my scoliosis every six months when I was younger but after I turned 18, the specialist told me I had stopped growing and I didn't need to go anymore. These days I don't really worry about my scoliosis too much. I have learnt to accept that my body is slightly different to lots of other people. I can also look at myself in the mirror and see a happy, beautiful young lady looking back at me. Hope to hear from you soon, Linda
