our daughter was diagnosed at 9 months with scoliosis she was put into a brace a 3 years of age........at 5 years of age when her curve reached 58% she had harrington rods inserted 6 months later she had these lengthened then 6 months later she broke the rods and had them removed she continued to wear a brace until the age of 9 when it was decided that the brace was having no effect..........she is now 12 and she has just (16th may 2002) had spinal fusion as i type she is doing well they say in 12 months time she will be back to normal and doing all the things she was doing before ........even though each operation was hard to go thru i would do it all again i have done a lot of research into scoliosis both on the internet and thru books ............
do you trust your doctor can you ask him anything and more importantly does he answer your questions in words you can understand ......... if you answer no to any of these look for another doctor you have to have faith in him or her talk to as many people as you can it really helps and stay positive if you would like to know anything else feel free to contact me at
