Johnny, I'm 31 and had two surgeries. I felt that same pain and was worried as well. I was a kindergarten teach which required alot of bending and lifting. One of my rods was wearing out the closest vertibrae to it. They removed my rods. It was O.K. The operation was easier than putting them in. I actually feel lighter! My fusion is still intact which its from t2-l4. That will be important is how strong your fusion is. You are old enough now that the rods really don't serve too much purpose. I agree with Debbie to look for the specialist. If you walk into the doctors office and is surprised at anything you say...Walk Out and find someone else! I've done that before! Trust me! Its worth your peace ofmind.. Good Luck.. Let me know if I can be of any help I know lots of Great Doctors!! Stephanie
