Kirk!Please I'm a 31 year old scoliosis patient who has had the rod surgery. I was 14 with a 65 degree curve on top and a 30 on the bottom with a rotation. Its called the "s" curve. I went to Boston Children Hosp. and met Dr. Hall (who is retired now) He invented that surgery~. Please don't take your daughter to a chiropractor! The mental anquish to her is more than the surgery! trust me. My fusion is from t2-l4 which is most of my back. Yes, at 30 degrees or higher they say to have surgery by them the curve is progressing and they need to stop it. I grew 2-3 inches at 14 yrs old after my surgery. The doctors are worried about her growing pattern. She is 11 and still growing, that's where the brace comes in. To try to prevent surgery by her being in a brace to help the body stay in line with her spine.I've had my rods in and removed. Was a cheerleader through out High School and did just fine! Please I did counceling a Boston Childrens after my surgery to help parents and children get through this I've got lots of helpful hints and have lots of knowledge in this area!
