Posted by Valerie My name is Valerie also. I am a 36 year old mom of 2 great kids and I too was in your same position as a 12 year old. I wore the full brace 23 hours a day for 2 1/2 years. I still did all the things I wanted too but I just had to make some adjustments. I use to leave my brace in the bathroom during track meets so I could run the 100meter hurdles. Me and my friends named my backbrace and use to decorate on football game days with ribbons and stuff. Very silly but helped me keep my spirits up and not get me down. I have never written on a message board before but when I saw your name and your going through what I did I thought I could be of some sort of help for you. Before you know it you will be out of the brace and on with the next step in your life. Best of luck to you. Valerie
