Hello, my boyfriend has scoliosis of about 45 degrees for both his lower and upper curve. He is often in very uncomfortable pain but would rather die than get surgery and there is no use in talking to him about it. I noticed that this site is from New Minus and that is comforting because we are from Halifax Nova Scotia. The only thing that doctors seem to know here is surgery or no surgery. I know there are alternative treatments- is nothing available here? From searching the Net it doesn't seem like there's anything available in Canada. This is rediculous! We need help and nobody knows anything. Doctors don't even know whether he can be covered for message therapy, chiropractic work, or physio therapy. So can he be covered? or rather, How can he be covered? "No" isn't a good enough answer. He is 21 years old and needs to find ways of bettering his back before it gets any worse or before he gets older and his back is even less flexible. Please help! We need to know someone helpful to talk to that isn' t going to talk bullshit. No one around here seems to care. I think he probably gets bad treatment because he's young, rides a bmx, and doesn't have any real life goals. We need someone to give us help who isn't a bias prick. Life is very hard for him with scoliosis and finding a job that doesn't kill his back seems impossible. We have limited funds and need any information that can help us find alternative treatment here in Nova Scotia or anywhere else in Canada. Even knowing that there is absolutely nothing here will be helpful because right now we don't know anything and we've been looking for answers for more than a year. Please help!
Thank you to any one who took the time to read this and will be able to send me any information or just reply to this message. My e-mail address is zinncleen@yahoo.com.
