Hi Chelsea,
I had been diagnosed with scoliosis when I was 12..or I should say they did not know what it was just checked it for many years and then forgot about it. I had 3 children with it as it got worse and the pain increased over the years. I am now 55 and had anterior release and posterior fusion of the whole spine. Now 11 years later (1993) I have pain walking alot and the tilt was overcorrected so I cannot stand straight and walk too well at the same time. Looks funny to me but I can still walk! I cannot bend except to sit or turn my head from side to side. Those are the ectents of my real movement. There are 2 ISola rods and hooks and wires and screws...my xrays look like a junkyard. I do get the "Poor me's" but I am so lucky to be alive as the scoliosis was crushing my right lung and putting pressure on my heart. They (the docs) did what they could to fix the curves (3) but I was so damaged from so much calciun deposots and natural fusion that the anterior release didn't undo much. Anyway...now that you had your surgery I can tell you to heal first slowly and stretch as you can to keep any movement you have from tightening up. then exercise slowly and push yourself as far as stretching to get all of what you had before. Don't let a little pain stop you because it will tighten up so bad you won't get it back. I do know that, and I wish I had done more but my post surgery hurt very bad for a year. I was in bed for 6 months then learned to walk again. All went well but the pains did not stop in my situation. I pray yours will be better. Keep trying but not too soon. Write if you would like to talk. Thank you , Ginger
