Hi Beth,
I had 2 of the newer Isola rods put in from neck to hips in May of 1993. After the surgery ther was many different pains and then a period of less pain. They did what they could to help with the curves, 3, neck was 20% thorasic was 50% and the lumbar was 70%. Doctors decreased the curves some and did open up the space in my lung area and heart so I coild breathe and not damage my heart. So I am really lucky to be here or not in a wheelchair. Within the last 4 years I have experienced many different pains deep in the back and walking is just too hard for a long period of time. I too do not have much to contribute but I do take baclofen for muscle relaxing in the lower back and it does help, along with extra strength excedrin 2 of them maybe 3. There is begining to be some nerve damage and the one vertebrae left on the top neck is taking a beating causing more migraines...the 2 or 3 at the bottom by my hips are really hurting causing the deep back pain...but the baclofen does help...and I have tried to learn to sit down instead of doing 100 things at one time. I do enjoy the freedom of any movement I have concidering the alternative. I wish I had more to help you with but my doctors are lost with me and my type of surgery. I am glad to find someone to talk to. Thank you, Ginger
