I don't think a brace would help. Braces don't correct the curve, they only stop it from progressing further. And with the curve being that big, I think a brace would be pretty much useless.
As far as i know, the only alternative would be the surgery, but with what you've said, that doesn't seem to be an option at the moment. However if her back starts to hurt or look deformed, she might change her mind.
