I am 16 and have scoliosis. My curve is about 35 degrees, and i also have a smaller curve in my lower back.
My scoliosis was only discovered about 18 months ago, when i was 14 and a half. When i was fifteen my doctor decided i should wear a boston brace. I have been wearing this brace 23 hours a day for 12 months now, and hopefully I will only have to wear it for another 4 months 23 hours a day, and then i get to wear it only at nights.
I am also very petite, and started my menstrual cycle after I get my brace.
My brace treatment has been very successful, mainly I think because I have worn it for the full 23 hours a day, every day.
I don't think your daughter needs surgery yet, I think the cut off is at least 40 degrees.
