Posted by Wendy I am a 26 year old woman, and I have had scoliosis since about 1987. I was thrown into surgery with about the same degree as your daughter has now, and to tell you the truth, it did not help on bit! (Years later, and 2 surgeries under my belt, I still have scoiosis, but it has reached almost the 70 degree mark.) But I had a very horrible doctor, who did not put me into a brace after the first surgery because he said it was unnecessary. (But much later, my family and I found out that a brace is required at least 6 months post-op.) But at the time I was diagnosed, my mother was terrified, and did not find a second opinion before putting me on the operating table. (But I could understand her fear.) My advise is to take her to as many doctors that you can before deciding on surgery. Granted, surgery has help many people, but there are some cases that it has harmed. (I'm one of them.) I don't want to frighten you, I just want to make sure you go over all your options before putting your daughter in surgery. If you would like to hear my entire story or need some more advise, please feel free to e-mail anytime. (Because there is a lot I left out here.) Much Love, Link: Magickalpair Realm
