Hi!
My name is Celine and I am 21 years old. I have had scoliosis since I was 11. My parents and I noticed that I had it after a trampoline accident I was involved in. Shortly after, a huge bump (the typical rib hump) showed up and I was soon after diagnosed. I was going to have the surgery a long time ago, but decided against it last minute. I started seeing a chiropractor shortly after, and have been seeing the same man for 7 years now ( hass kept my scoliosis from getting worse, but sadly has done nothing for the physical appearance).
I experience VERY little to no pain at all. I have a two severe curves ( I am not sure of the exact degrees) and a prominent rib hump. The rib hump is the reason I am contemplating surgery. I am constantly introverted and cannot wear the clothes I want to ( I know it may sound vain, but all I think about is how I dont want to get married because I could never wear a wedding dress and feel comfortable).
I am unsure of whether I should get the surgery or not, as I am aware that I am lucky with the no pain, but the physical aspect is really holding me back from living a full life. I just worry I will get the surgery, look great and then be in pain for the rest of my life. If anyone who has had the surgery cares to give me feedback it would be greatly appreciated. I have been told the surgery has improved since the 70s, but am not sure if this is true or if that is just p.r. to ensure the doctors are still making money.
Also, is there anyone who has just had the rib hump removal surgery? ( the removal of ribs, rather than the rod). I am pretty sure they wont do that without the rod but I am just trying to figure out some options.
ANY comments are welcome, as I really don't know what to do.
Thanks
