I was 15 when I found out I had scoliosis and my upper curve was at 72 degrees and my lower was at 43 degrees. I wasn't having no problems either but the doctor said a brace would be a bad option because I was to old. (I was almost done growing.) But lately studies have shown that braces aren't doing as much as they use to think. Honestly I think surgery is the way to go. Also my doctor said physical therapy isn't going to help any, the only thing it would do is strenghen my back. Before I decided to have surgery I had to wait 6 months to see if it gets worse and it did like 3 degrees. So I would highly suggest to get the surgery because 1. for her back won't get any worse 2. shes younger so recovery will be better than if she was older. 3. The worse your curves are the more time for recovery. So I would really really look into surgery...After my surgery my upper curve went from 72 degrees to 20...BIGGG Difference...I was 3 inches taller, my ribs weren't as deformed, and my posture was soooo much better! No more one shoulder higher than the other. Honestly I am glad I had it done. I did experience a few problems like numbness and my nerves acting up but other than that it went very well. If you have anymore questions just e-mail me I would be more than happy to answer them. Becky
