im 12 and i just had that same surgery. my gym teacher in the 4th grade spotted it in the first gym class of the year. i was sent to my doctor and it was 24 degrees. so he said we would watch it. so i went back in 6 months and he said it was 23 degrees and i should come back in a year. the next year when i went back, it went to 56 degrees because i had a 4 3/4 inch growth sprout. i skipped the brace completely and went to the surgery option. in feburary i had my surgery and i only stayed in the hospital for 4 days. i went back to school about 3-4 weeks later. for all of you kids out there with spinal fusion surgery comin out, just stay strong. i know it hurts but if you take it easy, you'll be back on your feet in no time. and just remember,the sooner the better. if you get the surgery now, you'll heel so much faster than you would when your older. good luck and keep your head up high, nora =]
