Hi, I'm 15 years old and two years ago i was diagnosed with scoliosis. In those two years my spine has curved another ten degrees, resulting in a total of a 57 degree lumbar curve. My doctor has now reccomended that I have surgery. He said that lower lumbar curvatures are rare and that he only fuses about 1 out of every 50 surgerys. I have relatively no discomfort caused by my scoliosis and I was wondering wether I'd be making the right decision to go ahead with spinal fusion. He also gave me another option of a new surgery that he and his colleague have developed called an osteotomy. If anyone has had an osteotomy or has had their lumbar curvature fused, please PLEASE respond!!
