Executive Director Intern Job Description
The Executive Director Intern will work with the Executive Director and his assistant, both independently and as part of this small team, on special projects and ongoing management tasks. Special Projects, in addition to others as assigned, are anticipated to include the following:
• Researching, evaluating and planning earned income initiatives including rentals, concessions, merchandising, and educational programming.
• Providing support in the development of Arena’s Artist Network, an alumni society for artists.
• Investigating opportunities for Arena to develop a “sister city” relationship, summer residency program, and touring operations.
• Participating in Next Stage Campaign by providing donor prospect research where necessary.
• Serving as a coordinator for the creation of a master plan, budget, and contracts for Arena’s 2-year relocation of the theaters, shops, offices, and rehearsal spaces.
• Providing staff support to select Board of Trustee committees.
• Participating in the drafting of commission contracts, license agreements, and co-production agreements.
• Serving as part of the team which monitors Trustee activity, including tracking the involvement of new Trustees and coordinating other special Board functions as necessary.
• Preparing statistical and comparative analysis of national and regional theaters.
• Assisting with and writing at least one grant proposal to a corporate or private foundation.
• Conducting general office and administrative support as required.
• Position requires the following:
• Excellent writing, organization, communication, and computer literacy skills.
• Ability to work with corporate executives and political and business leaders as well as staff and artists.
