Dear Female type person,
The following is an idea of my aims and objectives and a description of myself. If you feel that you would like to be involved with what can only be described as 'A way of life' please reply. Please describe how you feel and how you would fit in with all of this and what your aims are. I am not a selfish man and will entertain any ideas or intentions that would enhance this chosen lifestyle.
First a little history; three years ago I decided to simplify my life and live on a boat. I am a Yacht Carpenter by trade and using this skill I loaded my tools onto a wooden 28' boat that I had re-built and went sailing! I traveled down the French canals to the Med and cruised Mallorca and Sardinia. As the small boat was wrecked (pure accident in the harbour) I was able to move up to a bigger (48') boat.
I sold this last boat in April this year and am now buying a Jannaeu Sun Fizz 40' for my future home.
I am in Fajardo Puerto Rico and am 'Networking' a bunch of contacts for upgrade pieces for the boat and will install new electronics etc over the next couple of weeks, although if I got a charter tomorrow the boat would be fit. I have a contact here for charters and indeed have news of a possible 'Surfing Charter around P.R. in October. Also there is the opportunity of trips between P.R. and U.S. Virgin Islands, staying a minimum of one overnight before returning. The possibilities are endless as I am starting from a clean sheet, diving, tuition, longer charters, these are all options, as is moving throughout the Caribbean or even the world. Your input and help in setting up the boat would be of great help and would perhaps personalize your involvement, should you decide to join me.
So as far as the boat and earning a living is concerned you would be an integral part of her (and I don't mean a bulkhead!) I hope from the following description of myself you get a feel for the way I look at life and what I want out of it. The way that the boat is organized and presented will become a representation of those persons involved i.e. you and me.
About me, Hey where do I start? I am british and speak no other languages and am not particularly patriotic preferring a less class'ist attitude than the English arrogance. As to sailing I was sailing before I was born (my mother was very pregnant in a regatta), I do not remember learning to sail and I am a lover of wood and traditional lines. However I do not want the amount of work that comes with a wooden boat, I have had this, I would rather someone pays me to work on theirs. I love the water, stars, a cool refreshing breeze, and fresh air. I am suffering living in and out of air-conditioning in rented property at the moment, which is against my nature. I crave a cool breeze through a shaded cabin rocking on an anchor.
music is important to me and I choose to 'listen' to music not just 'hear' it, I hope you appreciate the difference. My heroes are Eric Clapton, Santana, Jimmy Buffet and Pink Floyd amongst any performers of quality musicianship, even recent music. Favorite styles are upbeat blues and rock. I also love to dance!
I am 5' 10" tall (on a good day), full head of wavy hair, blue eyes, fair completion (if I am not careful red in the sun) and I am of slim build but with a carpenters muscle tone. I do not practice keep fit but have no beer belly and prefer to eat no red meat or junk food. I am hesitant about stating my age as most people see me as much younger than the number on my passport, anyway I don't think this has any relevance.
So what next?
Well that depends on your schedule but I would like to have someone 'on-board' from an early stage, for their input. This brings me to whether this opportunity is a 'Job' or how you might earn a living whilst on the boat. I try to be a fair person so I would offer a percentage of the earning whilst chartering. Personally if I am short of money I can earn from carpentry, (I have some work at the moment). If you have skills to market all the better. Suffice to say we are individuals and one would hope mature about money so I envisage an agreement through a partnership.
I am also writing my autobiography, which is needing more time devoted to it. If you can type this would help also. I hope to have plenty of time swinging to an anchor to finish this epic project!
So the rest is up to you, please ask any questions and I will answer them honestly. I don't suffer fools gladly and so don't try to fool anyone. I have written all of this as clearly and accurately as I can as the consequences of fooling with another person can only backfire later. I am a believer in 'Do unto others as you would have done to you'.
Please attach a photo of yourself. Also take a look at me and my last boat at the web site geocities.com/travelers_delight
I look forward to your reply.
