Roslin, Thanks for your inquirey. My boat is a 1982 Lancer 30. I just bought it a few months ago with the intention of bring it to Hawaii. A good friend of mine originaly was going to sail her over, but will not have enough time off from his regular job. The boat is in good shape, but he and I had gone over what "we" thought would need to be done before attempting a pacific crossing. When I had the survey done last month, I also told him of my intenttions and he added a few other little things to consider. If you check out Yatchworld.com and look under Lancer sailboats there are a few there for sail and that will give you an idea of the size and lay out of the boat. I'm in the process of finding someone to re-rig all the standing, and will redo the running rigging as well. My sails are pretty light for the trip, so they will be replaced and I'll keep the others on board as spares. it has a Westerbeke eng. that runs out great, roller furl, wheel steering, with autopilot (not check out yet) alcohol burning stove and oven. Like I said I have a list of what I think needs to be done to it but who ever takes it across fo me will have a large input to what is done before the trip. As for timing? I would like to get it over as soon as possible, but also understand preparation time, planning and weather factors. As for expenses, we can discuss several options, One suggestion I had was and annual pass for unlimited airfare from Calif. to Hawaii for a full year! that would get you back and allow you travel back and forth when ever you want for a year? Just one suggestion, I'm pretty new at all this my sailing experience was limited to the San Diego bay more than 20 years ago, and now an occational day sail with friends in Hawaii. And as for picking a crew, if you have a few friends that would like to go with you, that could work also. Let me know if you have any more questions. I'll be back in Hawaii on the 19th, there through the 22nd and then home to Calif on the 22nd- July 6th or 7th or so. Thanks again, look forward to talking with you. John
