Whenever the C/C/D Royal triangle is mentioned, somebody eventually pipes up with teh statement that Andrew PB and Charles were "close friends" or even "best friends."
What exactly is the evidence that supports this claim? When did they become close friends?
Andrew PB is 9 years older than Charles, so they weren't best friends in school, they didn't even attend the same schools.
They didn't meet up in the military, Andrew joined the Army while Charles never spent any time in that branch of the miltary (if he did, it isn't mentioned on either his website or the official British Royals website).
Andrew has a close friendship with Charles's sister Anne (they dated back in 1970 and are frequently seen together at Ascot). He also was reported to have been a close friend of the Queen Mum, in fact, some people claim he's a close relative based on the fact that his mother's (Anne de Trafford) sister Mary de Trafford married Sir Francis Bowes-Lyon, who was the grandson of the queen Mum's uncle (Hon Francis Bowes-Lyon).
