When I read both interviews the same excuses came out again. Sure Fergie admits to losing her life savings, but it was an advisor who gave her bad advice. She had the option to say "no" and I don't think she had a gun held to her head forcing her to give up the money. If a sensible person was going to put a considerable amount of money into a project, he/she talks to very competent people if it's a wise thing to do.
I also agree with your observations Martha and I do think she still wants to be taken care of by a man despite her boasting that she's an independent woman handling her own life.
