Right...it isn't law school as such....I believe the courses are one or two years, depending on what you studied in university....And there is also the decision of barrister vs solicitor...if they want to be a barrister they have to do articles instead of the route the solicitors go. Sorry I am not getting more detailed, I don't want to give the wrong information as to what they actually have to study. I know that UK lawyers have to take a conversion course in the US.

: So what Chelsy is really doing is an
: internship and she wouldn't be paid. So in
: the UK Law School isn't as long as in the
: US? Am I understanding that right?

: From the law school, no. From her work
: placement, wouldn't know, that is between
: her and (i think) Allen and overy..forgive
: me if I have the practice wrong..too tired
: to look it up....Mixed views on the two
: girls....but most people seem to think Kate
: is respectable...but think it would be
: better if she had a proper job....nobody
: knows how much she is actually working.
: Chelsy does seem to be properly trying, and
: intelligent, but she is wild, and her
: father's connections are a problem. The flat
: thing, I think that is more of a class thing
: (Chelsy's flat is beyond that, I admit...)
: but owning property here is something people
: try to do right away if they can(getting
: harder and harder) ..I guess it stems back
: to the old adage of the gentry being those
: who owned land. Remember Chelsea (area in
: London as opposed to Chelsy) is full of
: impoverished aristos and gentry...the
: families will go broke before selling their
: estates, and they live off what little money
: they have, most being lost in Lloyds...they
: will own a decent flat but not have much
: money to go out, and rely on their flashy
: nouveau friends to spend the real
: money..(club membership traded for glasses
: of champagne.) But even for the middle
: classes, owning is important- I know more
: single friends here that own than in the US,
: and many of my US friends here, unless
: wealthy would rather rent whereas the
: English try to buy....

: Legal Practice is what you do while
: studying...many people study at the London
: College of Law....so whole system is
: different than the Americal law school
: system (the American system is more
: difficult...three years of post graduate
: school compared to a year of law with
: practice here!)Sorry if I seem to be
: lecturing, I'm really not, just sometimes we
: don't realise what the differences
: are....anyway, no, that is not a normal
: price to spend on a first home in
: London...even though it is an expensive
: city, that is one great starter flat...
:
:
:
: So does she or does she not receive a
: paycheck?
:
: Some people consider her to be superior to
: Kate because she's got a job (working for
: one's family isn't a "real" job in
: their eyes) and a lot of snide remarks were
: made about how Kate's parents bought her a
: flat.
:
: Well, now the two girls are even in the
: parents buying them aplace to live
: department.
