1) Showing up to work sober is different than going out in the week and having drinks. I am not talking about getting wasted. and definitely no drugs (I think drugs are evil.) but people in London go out during the week. All the time. They are not going out until 4 in the morning, but sometimes they do, not every night, but sometimes...and when they are young, more often....and Beatrice and Eugenie are students. Who stay up late, and sleep in. That is what you do in university. Whether you have been drinking in student unions or not. What about hazing and fraternities? Never been to a keg party? Never heard of anyone being hazed? It happens. I am not saying it is good. It is just what happens. They learn. They learn as they get older. When I was in university I learned very quickly that gin and tequila don't mix. And I never did it again. Ever. But we do it. And I am sure that every other foreign prince and priness have done that. Everone here loves Princess Victoria- and we shoudl. She is beautiful, intelligent, and behaves regally. But this was a girl who suffered from sever anorexia. How was she behaving at the time? Probably not normal. But the papers were decent to her, treated her with respect. Beatrice and Eugenie have the disadvantage of having Fergie as their mother. But...she is their mother...and they love her. As they should. But I don't know what everyone wants them to do? Disown her? Eugenie is in student digs..sharing with other girls just like every other student...and went out to a bar on her first night...just like every other student....should she have stayed in and made all the other students instantly dislike her? They would have immediately thoigh"oh, she thinks she is better than us." An example is her father...when he first joined the navy, he never joined in. His fellow officers were not fans. During the Falklands, he learned to be one of the guys. Joined in. As he continued after. ANyone who served with him after the Falklands has only good things to say about him. Why? He acted like everyone else. And as a result, he gained their respect. I understand that we want them to act like "princes" and "princesses" but we aren't seeing pictures of them doing shots or getting drunk (wide eyed out of a club does not mean drunk) We haven't seen them passed out in front of a fountain, like Blair's son. I jsut think they need to be given some slack.

: George I, for one. A couple of the Henrys in
: France come to mind, too.
:
: The bottom line is that Beatrice and
: Eugenie seem to expect to be treated like
: "normal" people when it suits
: them, and then want to go off and party when
: they feel like it. Same thing with Chelsy.
: We can dismiss their behavior as
: "well, lots of people do that and
: they're behaving like typical people
: do," or "lots of people drink like
: that and party hard during the week and
: their bosses are accepting because it's part
: of the culture" or whatever (and, for
: the record, British friends of mine--born,
: raised, living in London at this very
: moment--don't behave like that. Why?
: Because, even in the UK, people need to be
: at work sober, feeling fit, and ready to do
: their job). Beatrice and Eugenie are not
: "normal" and along with that comes
: responsibility. And as far as I can see,
: they're not behaving responsibly.
