: But I also agree that there's something
: really off-putting about Sarah's
: relationship wit her daughters--like she's
: using them to improve her status and
: increase her celebrity, while at the same
: time trying to dress and act their age, if
: that makes sense?

In a tripod you have three legs of equal size, or status. Fergie is clearly presenting herself as their equal, which she is not. They were born royal, she lost her royal status. They are members of the royal family, she is most definitely not. They are young women with their futures still ahead, and she is middle-aged and in financial trouble. Beatrice and Eugenie also have the protection of HM and could possibly enter a royal marriage that would give them status and financial security for life. Realistically, Fergie has no such hopes for herself. It must be very hard for her to see her daughters on the balcony where she once stood, watching them on tv and remembering how it was to receive the cheers and wave to the crowd. She's lived in a bit of a fantasyland for many years, and I hope she'll be able to manage in reality. Andrew will never let her starve or be without a safe place to stay. But Philip and HM won't let her return to her former status of a royal wife, so she'll remain the shaky leg of a tripod.
