Some quotes:
According to one royal source, Fergie has approached Buckingham Palace for financial help. The response from the Queen was said to have been: 'Just [tell her] to stop spending.'
The suggestion that Fergie has gone cap in hand to the Palace was dismissed as 'utter nonsense' by her side.
And:
Her profile enabled Fergie to endorse a range of jewellery, for example, even perfumed candles with gift packaging richly embossed with a regal 'S' and a superimposed crown.
'We are no longer selling that range,' said a representative for the company that once stocked them. As for the jewellery, the supplier of the items later went bust.
So to her money-spinning books.
Or are they? Certainly her autobiography, My Story, published in 1997 at the height of her notoriety, brought in an estimated £2 million. How much of that was used to pay off some of her debts, though?
Since then, she has brought out more than a dozen books. How much do you think they grossed? A little over £127,000, figures supplied by the publishing industry show - and that's before the publisher takes a cut.
Her self-help book What I Know Now: Simple Lessons Learned The Hard Way, went on sale in 2003. Unfortunately, only 802 people have benefited from her advice in six years.
Meanwhile, the latest in the children's Little Red series, Little Red To The Rescue, which came out last month, has so far sold 58 copies.
And:
The following anecdote of her chaotic lifestyle sums up Fergie.
A close friend at the time takes up the story. 'I found out Sarah owed £340 to a lady who did inexpensive clothing alterations for her from a dry cleaners in the Gloucester Road area in West London.
'The woman did a lot of work for Sarah - taking in dresses when she lost weight, then letting them out again if she put on a few pounds.
'But she always had a problem getting paid. So I rang Sarah's secretary and said "Get her to phone me", which Fergie duly did.
'I explained to her that if she wanted to keep my friendship, she had to do three things: (1) send the alterations lady the cash by messenger; (2) send her a letter saying how sorry she was; and (3) send her a box of chocolates.
'The woman phoned me the next day to tell me she had received all three, except she got flowers instead of chocolates.
'Sarah was working for Weight-Watchers at the time and she felt they should be paying the bill for the alterations.' This may explain the chaotic mix-up.

She thought WW should pay to have her clothes altered when her weight yo-yoes up and down??????
