Can you be certain that the blood was coming from inside the stoma?
If your stoma was 'active' as you were changing your bag it was most probably just stoma blood mixing with that.
The most common reason for a stoma to bleed is due to you being a little rough when removing, cleaning and replacing your pouch. on the whole it is nothing to worry about.
Remember that the stoma has no or very little protection around it so the blood vessels are close to the surface, so it doesn't take much for it 'leak' blood. I know mine does everytime I change my bag.
If you are at all worried or uncertain about it though, please do go see you gp or stoma nurse.
