| Pain Relief

Hi guys, I've been diagnosed with Crohns for about 5 years now after suffering since I was about 15. I don't take any medications for it, as I forget most of the time. However, after a recent trip to hospital after a neighbour found me collapsed on the floor, in agony and vomiting from the pain, I was put on IV morphine - and for the first time EVER I've known it to take all the pain away. I only ever seem to get the severest pain 1-2 times a year on the first day of menstruation, so I've always related it to that, but reading up more on Crohn's, I've realised that it is Crohns (just like the Doctors said lol), as it's primarily low and right sided. I don't want to have to go into hospital whenever this happens as it's very embarassing but so far this pain relief is the only thing that has ever worked. (Tried 90mg of codeine in the past and been high as a kite but was still in a lot of pain), Buscopan doesn't do much nor do any general OTT medicines. All I want is to be able to be pain-free for the 6 or so hours I'm in agony for - that's how long it lasts. I can cope with mild to moderate pain. Any advice? Should I be embarassed or reluctant to call an ambulance when the pain is that bad? This is only the second time I've gone to hospital from the pain and it was only because my neighbour insisted I had appendicitis, usually I'd just spend the day curled up on the bathroom floor, sweating and almost passing out, vomiting and generally moaning loudly! Thanks for listening Vicky
