Mum has been sent home after six days in hospital. It's taken that long to arrange a care package, hospital bed and all the bits and peices, and the ambulance just arrived so mum is very happy. She almost given up hope and was convinced she'd die in hospital, so she's really happy. We've now got marie curie nurses in for night time and hospice staff and district nurses and 4 times a day staff to help. She's come home with morphine and lots of other drugs to help manage pain and confusion so hoping she'll be more peaceful with all her family around her. Not sure how much longer she has left but I;m so pleased she's home where she belongs. Chip xx

Chip, I'm pleased she's home. I can't imagine how tough all this must be on all of you, but I'm glad that mum is home where she belongs. Hugs Kathy

So very very glad mum got home, she was so so cross she couldn't come home sooner. But now she's soooooooooooo calm, said yesterday it felt like christmas! Today bless her, she's TOTALLY relaxed, letting go and READY to leave us. Its sad and happy all rolled up in one. i'd have been so sad if she hadn't have gotten home. She's slept nearly all day with few meds. we've had to wake her to take the pain meds and all the "normal" signs indicate only days or weeks left. i'm sad and yet happy she got home. She woke for minutes at a time to day to speak to people then drifted off happily till eventually we couldn't wake her at all. She's ready to go now and i know it won't be long. I'm finally ready too but my heart is breaking. Pray for us chipx

MUM, stable BUT sleeps 20 hours a day and needs pain meds most of that, still got her sense of humour, though confused and slurring speech, even without pain meds. Fully incontinent and bed ridden now, and yet only two weeks ago was hobbling round front room bossing us all around (affectionately - bless!!) breathing very laboured and pumps on stand for giving morphine by injections as no longer tolerating meds orally.. Still love her to bits and when she stroked my head yesterday and asked my aunt to make sure i was always ok, i had to leave the room, to hold back the tears. Got the Marie Curie cancer night nurse staff in tonight so my dad will sleep which means he can do the morning shift tomorrow so i get a bit of a rest till 12 noon. Been discussing funeral plans and what to do when "it's time" so dad is prepared. But in the mean time, enjoying each precious extra hour i get with my mum. hugs (exhausted) chip xx
