Posted by Pat on 2/10/2007, 7:48 pm, in reply to "advice on dla" I'm glad to hear that you're gaining weight...that means that your body is getting the nutrients, etc., that it needs. Getting used to the ileostomy is an individual thing I would think. Anyway, please do keep us posted on how things are going for you. Sending good health and happiness your way.......... Lotsa luv and hugs, |
Posted by Gemz on 3/10/2007, 8:03 am, in reply to "advice on dla" Sorry to hear about you not being able to have a reversal. I too am unable to have one, more due to the complications i had from the first surgery. But to be honest, i'm happy with my stoma and i don't think i would have it any other way due the lifestyle i have now. IF i was to have a reversal..i was advised that within weeks i would flare again...this is something i would not risk... I've applied for DLA a couple of times and was knocked back. I just gave up...but i'm back in full time employment, since Jan this year (7 months after my surgery).. Huggs |
Posted by Philip on 3/10/2007, 1:18 pm, in reply to "advice on dla" If your health has improves since op it may well effect the benefit. There again, the op may have resolved one problem but caused another. You need to keep a daily diary to build up the picture. How do you feel? Does lack of bowel leave you exhausted (crohn's fatigue)? Any probs with the illeostomy and its care, any accidents in the middle of town etc? How do you manage all that you need to do to get through your day - you must examine every minute detail from waking (do your meds effect you state of conscioussness, leave you disorientated?) do you know where you are or do you need time to come round. How do you get out of bed? Do you throw back the covers and leap out or do you need to use equipment of any sort including furniture or assistance from partner? What's your mobility like? Any dizziness from meds or lack of meds or remembering to take your meds etc? Whole routine must be put under microscope and thought abaout in detail. Any pain or discomfort experienced? It can be more extensive and quite complex so ask for help from CAB or other good welfare rights agency your area. |
