The slothful man is described as "the man void of understanding" (PRO 24:30) because firstly, he fails to realise that God's grand plan for man from the very beginning was for him to labour (GEN 2:5, 3:23). Secondly, he fails to realise that there is joy in labour and its fruits - especially spiritual labour. Thirdly, the spiritual sloth fails to realise the infinitely greater worth of the eternal, soul and its infinite eternal rewards.
