There is not much storage space here... so I have two slatted wood boxes that I lay on their sides with slats of wood underneath to keep up off the counter - this place is tilted so sometimes water runs underneath the boxes.
I have varieties of beans, rices, pasta, etc. In canning jars of various sizes two rows deep in the boxes. All my boxes and canned goods are either in the three cupboards above the counter (in an L shape)...or there is a bigger cupboards under the unit where I have all my teapots, teacups and other bone china. That is packed with my extras - PNB, Oils, Herbs, Sugar, flour, blah, blah. I do an inventory every 1st of the month to see what needs replacing.
So chili & beans, Pasta and beans, Rice & beans, then sub veggies for beans. LOL
Potatoes are a fresh food so I have to buy from IPF fresh or from S's frozen. The kids also bring me stuff from the pandemic food pantry. I can never tell what I will receive so may buy then get more of tht item.
