Also, I was looking over my menu, and think that my Diner Night meals are 'cute!' lol! Meals that are cute, imagine, lol!
My menu follows a plan. For example, we will eat from the freezer 4-5 days a week. But the Friday meals, and when we have eggs, are made then.
So the Diner Night Meals are the most 'fancy' meals of the week - just because they have all the trimmings, and the Saturday night Dinner and a Movie nights are pretty much T.V. tray, easy food to eat while watching old movies.
This may not sound very fancy, but one example are buffalo burgers with chili and optional cheese. So, chili burgers, or chili cheese burgers for Dh. It's one of only 2 nights in the week that I plan a dessert. Every other night, Dh has a scoop of ice cream, if we have any, and I break off a 1/4 - 1/3 of a Suncup - like a peanut butter cup, and call it good.
Some foods, like burgers, meatloaf, and meat burritos are more expensive, and while we'd eat them more often, we don't to preserve the meat. So, those often end up on Friday's Diner Night. At least the burgers and meatloaf do. Burritos are special occasion food these days, though I could happily eat them often! And, really, aren't burgers and meatloaf something that you'd find at a diner?
The same with the stuffing. We can have it on the side of baked chicken, or hot chicken (like turkey) sandwiches! I know that everytime we went to a café in San Diego, before crossing over into Mexico, which was pretty often, I always had the hot turkey sandwich with stuffing, mashed potatoes, and cranberry sauce. Theirs was the best, and cafes and diners are close, right?
Anyway, my big cooking night of the week is on Friday's, (I'm not counting making all of the freezer food.) where I add the sides, even if we don't normally have them, and a 'real' dessert - cookies, pie, pudding, etc., and voila! Diner Night! I have fun with it. :-)
