The thing I hate most is being faced with the amt I have to spend at one time to do the above. It is a shock to my financial system every month. Which sends my BP rocketing skyhigh from a few days prior to the first of the month to a week after my shopping trip. Holy Moly! I am still recovering from the the last three months of 2019 and what the end of year does to my budget. Often, I find myself banging my head on my desk in a fit of panic. LOL It doesn't help. lol!
Anyway, the critters are all provided for. Between Chewy and Walmart their shelves in the pantry are full and overflowing with food, treats and meds, etc.
I wish I could say the same for my fridge and freezer, the pantry shelves and my cupboards. For this is another month where there is empty space that needs filling. Next month I hope to be able to fill those spaces. Unfortunately I won't know till then.
But I always feed the critters first... and I've learned to buy items that I can use to create myself large meals with lots of leftovers.
So I did buy fruits that needed replacing: Bananas, Pineapple, strawberries, white grapes and apples for Charlie, Chance & me.
Then I bought the veggies I needed replaced: Lots of carrots - again for me, C&C. Celery for my soups and some to freeze for later soups. I tried my darndest to find dehydrated celery and peppers but neither store carried them. Guess I go on line for them.
I bought gold potatoes and a big bag of onions. A very large head of green cabbage, roma tomatoes, but forgot the Romaine - luckily I still have a two heads in fridge. Two more bell peppers to add to what I do have - use a lot of them and luckily I bought a huge bag of the red, gold & yellow a few months ago. They freeze so well. Plus I have three bell peppers in the freezer as well. Boy picked out three hugh garlic bulbs. LOL
I bought extra chicken stock and a few cans of beets - my son bought some also as he likes them but had gotten out of the habit of buying some cause none in his house but him eats them. He is so excited LOL Beets are one of the foods that diabetics - love!!! I also bought a jar of tomato paste for my Naan Pizzas - looking at the receipt I discovered it has pesto in the mix. I hope that will be an improvement.
more canned vegies are Shoepeg corn,Southwester corn for my tamale soup... baked beans to go with my hotdogs - small cans of carrots for when I fix a small meal for myself.
Sparking water for me, lots of water for cooking, drinking and the critters. Sprite zero for me.. and 2 bottles of white wine.. some for cooking some for me on the front porch during dog free time DFT - I finally found a bottle of my favorite white - Chenin Blanc drinking not cooking... and a bottle of Pinot Grigio both cooking and drinking. I use a very small glass for drinking. It is one of my adult moments ie solitude. LOL
I bought myself a ribeye steak large enough to cut in half. Two butterflied pork chops that I cut in half giving me four meals. Some Italian meatballs as I try not to buy ground meats very often.. there is a dozen a pack and I package them for 3 at a time use. I also bought some Italian ground sausage and package for use with pasta and omelettes.
I bought some blue cheese, ranch dressing, mayo and smart balance. ExLarge Baking soda - ExLg vinegar.
For the freezer I bought a large bag of petite green peas, 2 of Nancy's Lorraine Quiche, 1 Amy's Enchilada Meal, 2 MC's chicken pot pies, and a 8 pack of Klondike Vanilla bars with dark choc.
The bakery items were 2 loaves if white bread. I make croutons and it is only bread for grilled cheese and tuna sandwiches, a box of multi grain crackers for soups and stuff, Cinn raisin bread, A loaf of Asiago Cheese bread for my avocado toast and garlic bread. 2 cinnamon rolls, and 2 jelly donuts which I ate last night to reward myself for the days labors and mental anxiety. 8-)
And there you have it. There was so little that I was able to repack what needed to be repacked for the freezer.
At walmart I bought my reg drinking water, my stationary supplies and the pet stuff. Also my sprite. AA batteries, pens and pads of paper, Boy got me a deal on the bathroom socket panels for that are also surge protectors. I bought olive oil, 1/2 & 1/2 coffee, Large peanut butter, APple juice, spaghetti sauce, some paper goods for kitchen 7 bath, 2 boxes of Velveeta Mac & cheese and a box of rontini to extend both of those - there is too much cheese to pasta ratio plus I add some tomatoes, broccoli and other veggies to the mix when I cook them.
Pepperoni, hotdogs, sliced turkey breast for sandwiches and pizza. Dill pickle spears, 2 pack of fridge cinnamon rolls. I seperate and repack so they last me a whole month - weekend treats. Hamburger rolls for my sandwiches, Nutter butter cookies with the wafers - the one I like best. Tortillas large, eggs, and so on. Dark rye bread Some french onion dip and cheese slices for sandwiches. Mostly provolone.
Ok Charlie is getting impatient to get out. So I have stalled long enough for the temp outside to get closer to 40. Just checked and it's 33. OUCH!
AT least it is to be 75 this afternoon.. talk about crazy weather...
All the shadows in the house are moving around the walls. I have crystals and other reflecting dangles in the East & West windows and fans aimed at both. All day I have rainbows sliding around my kitchen and dining room walls & floors. Add either Jazz or Classical music and there is a happy atmosphere to work in.
Outside it is windchimes and scores of birds of all kinds. LOL Charlie just dumped his really nasty dirty outside ball in my lap. I better get going. No telling what he will do next to get me off my laptop.
Have a good day.... I'm thinking avocado toast for breakfast. 8-)
