Posted by Alexandria It's great! At the first official meeting, we did a bit of drill, and then the really fun part of yelling at the top of our lungs ,competing with the other flight to see who could yell loudest. I lost my voice for the remainder of the day, but it was certainly the most fun I'd had in a while! The following meetings weren't nearly as fun, but still enjoyable. They taught us the proper way to salute (NEVER EVER with the palm outward, 'cause that means we've lost a war), proper reponses, and drill. I'm really looking forward to the flying. They actually let you take control of the plane. Well, not to take off and land, but to steer around up in the air. Very cool. You do have to memorize various officers' names, and the ranks and achievement awards, but thats to be expected. There's only one other girl besides me there, but that's okay. I'm not surprised. Do I even have to say what most girls my age are like? Alex (make that Cadet Airman Basic Alex ^_^). CITIZENS of El Paso, Texas, provided tremendous support to the soldiers of Fort Bliss during Operation Desert Storm. Among the local businesses that offered useful products to deploying units was a proprietor who gave us cases of unscented suntan lotion. "Why did you send us the unscented variety?" he was asked. --Contributed to "Humor In Uniform"

It must be one of those slow periods. Just to get somethingh new on here, I'll tell how my experience in the CAP is going.
For a giggle in this dry time:
"Well," he replied, "it would be difficult to employ the element of surprise in battle with 5000 soldiers smelling like coconuts."
