You can run a bug tranny with longer arms. Bus axles will take either bus CV's or bug ones but the bus will give more travel. You can get thing flanges and stubs and run bus CV's with junkyard axles for 2x3, 4x5, and 5x5 trailing arms. A bus trans would give you more strength and much better gears.
