Posted by Monte on September 1, 2006, 18:12:32, in reply to "front suspension" It comes down to 2 things: money and time. If you have more money than you need, give some to me and also you can buy anything your heart desires including a long travel beam or a cu$tom A-arm setup. If you have more time than money like the rest of us then the cheapest setup is the stock beam like you have adjusted up without binding up balljoints (you didn't say what you have now). A linkpin has more travel than a balljoint, but the balljoint stock has beefier parts and looks stronger, but either one is stout. Any front end will be "streetable" but maybe not legal if it puts the front tires way out past the fenders. Those rack and pinions you see in magazines are usually quick ratio, something like just 1 turn of the wheel lock to lock, and would make driving on the street......interesting..... Your suspension determines how fast you can haul ass offroad and even a 1600 can use all a stock suspension can give. Average offroading in bumpy stuff without bottoming out can be 15-35 mph which seems slow until you are out there doing it. For now I suggest you just go out and enjoy your Baja as it is. Get a feel for how it goes in bumps, what it likes and dislikes, and how you need to drive to keep the wheels from switching places with the roof........you can always add $$$ to it later. YMMV
