Posted by Illuminati on 5/3/2005, 8:45 pm, in reply to "Re: More Miracles in Islam" I don't know about the "altered" part but from my understanding the words in the Bible are certainly human words expressing God's messages. It is my understanding that the belief that the Bible has been "altered" is a matter of faith for you since the Bible and the Koran disagree. I don't believe any significant "alteration" has occurred and explain the differences between the Bible and the Koran on other grounds. The second Point you made about "human feelings" is one which we can discuss more easily since I don't think it is a matter of faith for either religion. As a Muslim, who do you believe made human feelings? Who created women? If God created these things why should He not discuss feelings and why should He not praise women? ""That she supported her husband in his early visions is clearly taught in Islamic history but whether she would have followed the later teachings is unknown." I suggest you read more about Kadija's character and her life after embracing Islam, I'm pretty sure she would have followed every later teaching!" That is an issue we will never know since she died before the later teachings were announced. The odds are that she would have followed her husband just as you suspect, but one never knows what would have happened if she had lived. I realize that from your perspective this is impossible but as a non-Muslim I can't help but wonder if the teachings would have remained more tolerant and less violent if she had lived. Perhaps with her influence and persuasion there would have been less internecine fighting and more diplomacy. Perhaps Islam would be more favorable to women. I'm still curious about the answers you are preparing for previous questions.

"The only difference is that the Bible contains human's interpretation of God's word which may have been altered whereas the Quran contains God's exact word which, we believe was never changed. As one who believes the Bible to be 'man made', I believe that the passage expresses more human feelings than Godly thoughts!"
