Allah ordered Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to follow the religion of Ibrahim (peace be upon him). When Allah says:
"Then We inspired you: 'Follow the religion of Ibrahim, the upright in Faith'." (16:123)
And part of the religion of Ibrahim is circumcision.
ow let us now come to the health benefits of circumsition:
You have not provided any Biblical evidence that circumcision is supposed to be a universal practice. When circumcision is done under sterile circumstances, it is quite harmless and appears to have some health benefits as you claim. When done under less ideal circumstances, these benefits have to be weighed against the possibility of infection at the time of circumcision. Also, performing surgery without anesthesia as is traumatic to the individual being circumcised.
I asked you to explain the connection between
circumcision and morality. From your answer it appears that because there are some potential health benefits from circumcision, that makes circumcised a moral obligation? Is that correct? What about overeating, is overeating a sin? What if you don't get enough sleep, is that a sin? As a Muslim, how do you decide what behavior is moral? Do you have a rational basis for your beliefs?
