""""Amir, I don't see any contradiction. Later on in this post, you quoted Jesus saying something very similar to what Paul said.""""
Paul says that u must believe "in the Lord" Jesus to get eternal life.SO u don seee any difference with Jesus' quotes?
Did Jesus say that we must believe he is God to obtain eternal life?
I don t think so.
""""I can see why someone who doesn't understand Paul's writings would think this is a contradiction. As I understand Him, Jesus was talking about the state of the spirit after physical death. Paul was discussing spiritual death to the evil desires which we all experience.""""
Jesus said that those who believe in him won t die,in other words one would be eternal. What u fail to realise is hat to reach this state of eernal life(which occurs after death as u rightly mentionned) u cannot face a "spiritual death" during your lifetime. That is if U believe in Jesus then not only will u gain eternal life but also a protection against spiritual death. It doesn t make sense otherwise.SO Jesus said that u will gain eternal life if u believe in him but that goes without saying that at the same time u are being assured of getting protection agaisn t spiritual death. So Paul's words do constitiute a contradiction to Jesus claims.
""""According to Paul, God judges people according to their knowledge. Because it is God's desire to save as many people as possible compatible with their free will, He will make allowances for those who don't know the law. That statement has nothing to do with the guilt incurred by those who knowingly reject Jesus.""""
""""In this passage, Jesus has expressed the same gospel which Paul teaches.Anyone, who believes in Jesus' teachings, has eternal life. In other words, it is not works which save us, but belief.""""
This is hilarious indeed.
Paul says:".... to eternal life through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD."
Jesus says:"...he who hears my word and BELIEVES IN HE WHO HAS SENT ME."
According to Paul Jesus is"the Lord".
According to Jesus it is the lord who sent him.
And u are telling me that their teachings are similar?
