""It shows that Jesus possessed attributes which are normally associated with God. Those who were acquainted with the Old Testament recognized the implications of His claim.""
Those attributes were "given" to him by God as he himself said.As far as his miracles are concerned, well non of them are unique.
1.In 2 Kings 4,Elisha brought the dead back to life.
2.In 2 Kings 6 Elisha cured the blind.
3.In 2 Kings 5 He cured leprosy.
4.Moses created a live snake from a wooden stick. This doesn t mean he is God,does it??
If u r trying to use Jesus'(pbuh) miracles to prove his divinity then i'm sorry but none of them proves his divinity because "Jesus can do nothing by himself" (5:19)
""The title "son of man" is a fulfilment of the messianic prophecy in Daniel.""
And u quoted Daniel .
The actual translation is not "worship" but "SERVE".These are different words, arent they?
If we closely read the text we see it says:"And to him was GIVEN dominion and glory and kingdom".
So we see that the kingdom and glory was GIVEN TO HIM,HE DID NOT OWN IT.So this is referring to a human ruler who is given great glory by God,this is simply a righteous servant of God being blessed by God.If anything this further shows is why you should not place your salvation in man, since man owns nothing and has nothing of his own,but is GIVEN EVERYTHING HE HAS.
Even if the person mentionned in Daniel is Jesus this doesn t prove he is God.
""We know that God almighty can appear as a man if He so desires. ""
I don t think so.The Bible says God cannot change (Cf. Numbers 23:19; 1 Samuel 15:29; Psalm 102:26-27; Malachi 3:6; Romans 11:29; Hebrews 6:17-18; James 1:17)
Num 23:19:
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
1 Samuel 15:29:
And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent.
The verses don’t mean that God cannot become a man, however the verses are still very clear, that God is not LIKE a man to repent or change his mind,God is not LIKE a man to be weak and have no power,God is not LIKE a man to become a servant. That is the main message that God is sending, he not like a man, so we cannot try and compare him with us, and he is not like a man to change his mind, such as his laws and his teachings. However so, if Jesus is indeed God, then God has indeed taken a drastic U-turn and has changed, not because he became a man, or the son of man, but because his attributes and essence have completely CHANGED.And if the verses above do not mean that God cannot become a man, they do say God does not change, this means he does not change his essence, his attributes, his purpose and his decrees.
""On the other hand, there is no reason to assume that Jesus’ body was also preexistent. This leads to the logical conclusion that it is His spirit which is divine""
Is Jesus Divine because he had GOD's Spirit upon him?
Isaiah 11:2 says that "The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him" but it doesn t mean that he is God because there were others in the Bible who carried GOD's Spirit in them:
1 Kings 22:23 "So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."
2 Chronicles 18:21 " 'I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said. " 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'
Numbers 24:2
"When Balaam looked out and saw Israel encamped tribe by tribe, the Spirit of God came upon him"
""Obviously, if ordinary humans could contain God’s spirit, Jesus also contained God’s spirit. But in Him, His relationship to God’s Spirit was different. God’s Spirit was His by nature, rather than as a later gift. God’s Spirit was Jesus’ Spirit. Jesus’ spirit is divine.""
I would like u to prove your point. This is only your interpretation again and there is nothing which shows that we have to consider Jesus(pbuh) as the Creater of this Universe or someone who is equal to GOD just because GOD had put his spirit in him,and not consider the many others who carried GOD's spirit above as equal to GOD.
I have no doubt that you are honest in your approach. However u can understand the need for solid proof to establish the truth because the question is of utmost importance.
