"Even on a social level, there can be interaction, such as coming together for meals and the like. However, such interactions are, by nature, going to be limited, due to differences in societal practices and customs. Perhaps one could say that the Muslim’s ultimate goal in his relations with non-Muslims is to bring them to Islam, thereby opening the door for there to be a complete relationship of love and brotherhood between them. But there is no question of forcing one on accepting religion as some do.To accept or not is in the hand of the non muslim and their decision must be respected.
Once The Great Caliph Umar was offered to pray in a church but he refused saying he feared that this might encourage muslims in the future to change the church into a mosque.Islam respect other people's places of worship and that is the true meassage of our Beloved Prophet."
Amir, I believe that you are probably sincere in your peaceful intentionhs. That is a good thing. The problem I have with Islam is the millions of Muslims who don't share your attitude. In almost every country in which Muslims have become a significant proportion of the populationt , they have begun to abuse non-Muslims, especially people who have exercised their God given freedom to leave Islam. Perhaps, someday things change.
As much as Westerners might wish your attitude was an indication of general Muslim attitudes, for our own safety, we have to remember that it is not. My brother lives in Calfiornia, and thought he had Muslim friends. He never considered Muslims dangerous, but discovered the danger for himself. His son had a friend who was dating a Muslim woman. Her parents threatened to kill both him and her because of their different faiths. That certainly woke up my brother.
