Posted by Illuminati on 10/28/2007, 4:45 am, in reply to "Re: Scientists' Comments On The Qur'an" Although these statements may be accurate in the sense that these men actually said those things and although these men may be "scientists," these quotes themselves have nothing to do with science. Unfortunately, there are many people in the West who like to pander to Muslim sentiments without realizing how damaging this is to anyone in Islamic countries who wants to do real science and who really wants to know the truth. And the truth is that legitimate scientists don't go to the Koran to discover scientific knowledge because they will be laughed out of their professions. At least some of these statements seem to be made when Muslims twist the Koran to try to make a passage in the Koran sound similar to something that the scientists are saying. The Muslims will present their interpretation of the Koran and ask the scientist if this statement sounds similar to what they believe and the scientist will say "yes." What the "scientist" is actually agreeing to is that the Muslim's statement sounds similar to what Western science may say, not that the Koran is a scientifically accurate book. Because the Koran is often ambiguous in its interpretation, if you know what you want them to say, many passages can be twisted to sound something like Western science although the statement itself has no scientific content. The sad truth is that children who are taught in madrassas and who spend a great deal of time reading and memorizing the Koran have a very poor grasp of scientific truth of any kind. These students of the Koran are so limited in their general knowledge that they don't even realize their profound ignorance and are easily fooled by this type of faulty "logic" into believing that the Western scientists are actually impressed by their "science." This type of behavior by "scientists" is similar to the behavior of powerful Western females, such as Nanci Peloci, who go to Islamic countries and wear head scarfs and pretend to be oh so submissive when in reality they themselves are powerful women who in their own countries wouldn't for a moment submit to the male domination which the Muslim women are forced to submit to. They wear those things thinking they are building bridges between cultures and don't stop to think that they are actually setting back the attempts of decent people in Muslim dominated countries want to live in free societies.

It is interesting what some "scientists" will say if they consider it in their self interest, especially if they receive financial rewards for these statements. It is also interesting that Muslims are forced to solicit these comments from Western scientists since they don't have any significant science of their own. The nature of these comments partially explains why science died many years ago in Islamic countries since in these arguments "science" is being used to support superstition.
