I also found a site that referred to him as the first Legion of Merit Award winner and the only Black stallion to do so. There are some great photos of him on that site (for sabino Arabians) and if you go to google images and type in Darq+arabian you will see them. He has fantastic conformation in these photos, although I wouldn't suspect he would produce color since both his sire Raffon and his Dam Jo-Vall are both bays. I also think that the site that has the great photo's of him got there information from the same source you did. I have an acquaintance that has access to "the source" and is also trying to find info to back that up, since I was just given a beautiful double Gdansk bred mare that also has Darq in her pedigree and looks like him, she is a black-bay (registered as black). If you find more information please let me know and vice-versa. And if you wouldn't mind I would love to have a copy of the article you do have. By the way, my mare has one of the sweetest temperaments, she's hot and showy, but kind non-the-less. I plan on breeding her, not this January, but next, to my stallion Velvet Sunspot.
