Posted by pat on 6/9/2002, 11:33 am My plan for the next school year is to make 8 1/2" x 11" posters for the hallway outside my therapy room. Each poster will contain a simplified explanation of a weekly GrammarNOW tip, and will also present several "fill in the blank" challenges for the students to see if they can apply the rules correctly. I plan to post a new tip each week. I'm also considering posting copies in 4th-5th grade classrooms, and perhaps making a weekly contest of it, or perhaps limiting the contest to May for BETTER SPEECH AND HEARING MONTH as a way of reviewing the weekly tips. Has anyone done anything similar?
Did you know you can sign up for a free, weekly, email grammar tip? Go to the LINKS & RESOURCES page of this site, click on the GrammarNOW! banner, and sign up. As teachers and SLPs, we should be models of correct grammar, yet many times we are not. These tips can help us clean up grammar habits that have become lax in this era of "sound byte" communication.
