Has anyone joined one of the "buy 3 items for 1.99 now...

and then purchase one item at reg. price in next year? If so, what was your experience with them? I'm wondering if it's worth it ~ it seems too good to be true! They are offering great materials for only 1.99! Thanks in advance for your advice! Oh yeah ~ if you did join one, what was the website/company?
