Hi, I am hoping to get opinions of those of you who have experience with AAC devices. I am not up to date with all that is out there but I am trying to learn. I have a a 26 y/o male with CP. The doc tells me he has an IQ of 70-80. He understands and can follow conversation but has difficulty with speech. He does use some simple signing and speaks with 1-2 words (intelligble ~ 60-70% of time). He can use the keyboard on the computer and enjoys it. He spells words as they sound. He understands pics, but the mother says will not want to use items that are "babyish". Any devices you may think would decrease his communication barrier? He has not received many services up until now as far as speech is concerned (he lives in a very small town). Thanks in advance!!
