I was the engineer on the Scamp for Unitas XXV. I am guy in the white shirt mentioned by Captain Guilfoil in the liberty boat picture. I served on board from September 1982 until January 1985. I got out of the Navy in May 1985 with a medical disability. The Scamp was my last duty station. The old girl did herself proud in 1984 taking us across the Atlantic, above the Arctic Circle, through the Panama Canal, around the tip of South America (through the straits of Magellan), and back home to New London. We tried to get the Navy to let us make a side trip to the Anarctic Circle to claim that prize as well but were turned down.
