Posted by Kenneth Ward on 7/24/2003, 11:02 am Paul remember that he was the topside watch when I got hurt. He remembered helping up through the torpedo room hatch and logged the incident in the topside watch book. Boykins remember that I got my leg smashed in the aft reactor compartment door and that I missed a ship's movement and he had to stand port and starboard watch at sea. The claim will take six months to a year to process. My leg swells up every day and I almost died from a blood clot almost four years ago. But I can still climb mountains and shoot huge bull elk!!! Interestingly enough Hodge told me that when he applied for his disability, that when he got to see his medical record it too was empty. Just the file jacket, not even an inoculation record. I had the same experience. The DAV representative said this would have been done at the command level. Hodge readily agreed that the doc, Chief Tucker, probably cleaned out our medical files. Thanks again fellows, if there is anything I can every do for you, what I have is yours. kcw

With two letters from Wayne Boykins and Paul Crotty, I have filed for a service connected disability with the VA.
