I sure hope the quick/fast/international style that Tyler used will be continued, by the successor co coaches. INcorporating lessons from Men's game
For those that remember Joy's tenure. Those first matches (first weekend!) and those years, what stuck out from the BG era, was the pace just seemed ......S L O W...and right off the get go of Joy's tenure.
It's not something I would expect our AD to even comprehend - his VB background I really doubt is all that sophisticed.
Beach fans have been accustomed (or spoiled) historically to BG's quick tempo and a crisp well defined style of play. Tyler brought that crisp pace style back. Granted, when a quick tempo team passing gets off, or breaks down, it's ugly. Why a really good instructor is needed.
Huus and Morgan are familiar with that. It'll be interesting who the AD brings in to advise. Knipe obviously (but he's busy), and/or BG would be the resources to sort thru what candidates can really offer. I would not expect that's something our AD can even process, frankly. It's something the AD is gonna need some real solid guideance for. Part of his issue will be getting the right VB advice.
this will be interesting
7-8 years ago, the pool seemed pretty obvious and see how careers turned out
Joy (saw how that turned out)
Tyler (not official, and now we have reinforced to know Tyler looks out for Tyler #1, he did leave the the program in a better state that when he came, but the way he left puts the program in a bit of triage)
Hilliard (looked great while at San Diego, has struggled to get any traction at SDSU, has not proved he can build a mid-major)
Nicole Polster (Debbie Green's daughter and former Beach setter) : was gaining valuable experience at UOP, adn then Fullerton, in two years at Fullerton, it's been dismal, granted Fullerton is pretty much a graveyard for coaches. Has former Interim Sabrina Hernandez as assistant.
Erika Dilliard: good success as Oregon assistant, would be crazy to ditch that gig
gonna be tons of applicants
Natalie Morgan. Interim for now. Assistant and recruiting coordinator. would be poo-poo'd by nay-sayers, due to lack of experience. Natalie and Huus appeared to be great additions last year.
Has respect of players, of course not Tyler's 'cache'. She's got a solid background in technical roles. Would be a total flyer. Walters at Cal Poly was in a somewhat similar situation and became a very good coach.
Misty May: forget about it. They'll need a setter coach, but getting 1 day a week as a volunteer would exceed expectations
Brittany Hochevar: as a setter coach potentially, nothing else
Field is wide open. Tough decisions
Bre Henry (Bre Mackie): HC at Mississippi with Taylor Gregory. Ole Miss is a tough job, and results in two years haven't moved the program to an upper tier SEC program.
