Tyler was EXTREMELY WELL COMPENSATED, as a Big West, mid-major, or even most P5 coaches.
did he probably have some more desires? possible. going to USC like this reflects only on Tyler, not Beach.
agree while Jane has dome some things positive for athletics, she's had a political agenda as well. the mascot being a flawed dictatorial coupe, and then some of her lectures, as if she has superior diversity views in her cacoon. Beach one of the most diverse universities before she came, and she really hasn't made Long Beach diverse, just lectured if it actually needed her vision. she's a conflicted leader at best.
her pre-match lecture before the NCAA semi MVB in 2019 vs. Pepperdine on the lawn was incredibly stunning for a 'pep' rally, lol, like 'huh, what the hell is she talking about' bad. she's really not very inspiring unfortunately, she can't articulate excellence well, like it's a bad goal.
In the last 2-3 years, we’ve lost 4 major individuals to the following:
Athletic Director to Deputy A.D. at Washington
Baseball Coach to St.Mary’s BB coach
WBB Coach to St. Mary’s WBB coach
WVB Coach to USC Assistant Coach
Although those leaving might have received pay increases, none of these moves are promotions. Curiously, this all started after Janey called Fee to the carpet for exceeding his budget and then decided to have the A.D. position report to a “bean counter”. I believe all of these recent moves are related to this change. Other than D2 schools, I’m not aware of any other school that has this type of organizational structure. Jane can claim she’s a fan of athletics but she has brought us to the brink of D2.
I was on record when she was hired close to a decade ago that it was a mistake. She was a DEI hire before DEI, pure and simple. Months before she was selected, the CSU stated that there weren’t enough female CSU presidents, and a barrage of female CSU presidents were suddenly selected. CSULB had always hired sitting university presidents to fill their president vacancies, not some graduate dean of education at UCSB, which is what Janey was. I don’t know if the damage that she has done to the university and the athletic program can be reversed. I pray that she announces her intention to retire before the end of the school year.
