while the Thunderdome is much better with the upgrades, the Pyramid seating is still far and away better, and 2000 fans can make the Pyramid seem nuts
that first 10 minutes was as hard of defending on the ball as I can remember, guys better be hitting weights with the time off - cause gonna need ever more muscle to close out defensively that way end of games
best game Tsohonis career, because it was his hardest defense and smartest offense.
lol at the thought we didn't recruit good 3 pt shooters, just really relects on CDM's lack of a) teaching guys what a good 3 pt shot is - should never have taken 2/3 of the season to instill that., and b) we can't get more of them. we shot 8 3 pts (even 9 counting Hart, Jr drawing the foul), and made 6. (7 counting Hart's 2/3). 75% following 50% vs. SB. that's the shot you want. and Hawaii shot 38? lol. if the looks can b ethat good, need to shoot more. but Tshonis and Thompson and Varrick in particular by now should know when to say no.
defense: was good to see playing so hard. it's gonna be a struggle, still do not think we space or cover the way needed. we really acccept teams taking lots of open 3s, doubling good teams, well, you have to be able to rotate, and have 5 guys in sync. we did give up lots of easy inside buckets as well with poor rotating. still not sold on LT doubling way out, and gets everything out of position.
how much was Hawaii not being all that much?
man, when AT took those outside shots, he looked loose, unlike many early in the season when it seemed he was debating for 4 seconds before taking an outside shot, with horrific results. yeah, it's only 2 that he made, hope it continues. whereever AT plays next year, he'll be hitting outside shots, hopefully it's at the Beach, I thought this year was that year, and hope it still becomes. If he starts doing that regularly, it's over for Beach opponents. over.
Silva has to complete his lay-ups. he was in the role I expected. hopefully keeps playing hard for 10-15 min a game, and throwing his body around.
I was surprised Messiah didn't start, he'd been the bright spot last two weeks, and he accepted not as mch time on the court. He can be a big part of the D, especially keeping in front of pt guards.
Hawaii had instructions to get into the paint and draw fouls, and they did, credit to them. but guys have to meet their drivers earlier away to prevent that.
AJ is taking not being an occasional focal part on offense well, and getting some tough assignments.
Hart, Jr. has really done well considering being a question mark. ON the court for 2 minutes, and it was a great two minutes.
Polynice was good to see hitting another 3, high arc, just like the others can't fall in love with that, needs hopefully to get a few balls down low.
students will be back, and also I'd expect a few hundred Irvine fans next week, they've earned the right to swamp opponent's venues.
